AI -Is that worth something?

Well, so I decided to check the hottest topic myself in the area that I understand a bit.

I asked CHAT GPT today to write a post on "restoration of oil painting".

I wanted to see, how real it is, what is its content reliability and its logic (the AI's).

And here it is, quite impressive, and I could not find any major mistakes!

Of course, the post, is incomplete, lacking in other damages besides natural aging, the issue of ethics owes a significant expansion, but I was definitely impressed, and it was actually the purpose of this experiment!

Oil painting restoration is the process of repairing and restoring a painting that has deteriorated over time. The goal of restoration is to return the painting as closely as possible to its original appearance while preserving its historical and artistic value.

The restoration process typically involves several steps. First, the painting is examined to determine the extent of damage and the best course of action. This may include cleaning the painting to remove dirt, grime, and other substances that have accumulated on its surface. The restorer may also remove any previous restoration attempts that have become discolored or otherwise compromised.

Next, the restorer will address any structural issues with the painting, such as tears or holes in the canvas. This may involve patching the canvas or using other techniques to strengthen it. The restorer may also re-stretch the canvas on its frame to ensure that it is taut and secure.

After addressing any structural issues, the restorer will begin the process of in-painting or retouching the painting to restore any areas that have been lost or damaged. This involves using paints that match the original colors and style of the painting to fill in areas that have been lost or damaged. The restorer must have a keen eye for color and style to ensure that the in-painting is seamless and consistent with the original work.

Finally, the restored painting is varnished to protect it from further damage and to enhance its appearance. The varnish must be carefully applied to ensure that it does not alter the colors or texture of the painting.

Oil painting restoration is a complex and often time-consuming process that requires specialized knowledge and skills. It is important to work with a reputable restorer who has experience in restoring oil paintings. With proper restoration, oil paintings can be enjoyed for generations to come
