Framing

In the home environment proper framing is a very important factor in art preservation. Since the typical household does not have fully controlled climate, conservation framing is the main measure in protecting your art.

Proper framing has additional objectives such as adaptation of the art to the interior design and emphasizing special qualities of the art. We at Karo Arts are well known for our design of frames and are specially proud of the conservation aspect of our framing.

Below are several rules for proper framing:

1. Avoid irreversible processes like gluing, cutting etc.

2. Avoid any materials that may have an adverse effect on the art such as self adhesive tapes, acidic mounting boards, acidic or penetrating glues or corrugated cardboard.

3. Insulate the art as much as possible from climate influences, insects, molds etc.

4. Create sufficient space between the art and the glazing (glass, Perspex or polycarbonate)
